Sturgis 2008

So, if you do not already know, I will be headed out for Sturgis on Tuesday morning, and will arrive back on the 12th. In case you need me, I will be watching my blog and still posting. Hopefully my connection is better, and I can download some pictures. I am very frustrated with not being able to do so. :( I have a lot of stitching going with me! Before I leave I will mail the 3 Ladies to you, Colleen. I will take a needleroll, my fair and squares, my next 3 Ladies, A hedgehog finish, and one to start, Skeleton Crew, a bent creek mini, etc. I will post my progresses, and hopefully pictures. The reason we are going, is Jon actually won a gig at the Gold Chip you can see his info at www.screamingskunk.com. Everyone have fun, and I will definitely try! Laura

Now I know this is not cross stitch related, but I had to share. I purchased this book early this month with www.knitpicks.com 40% off their books sale.
This Selbuvotter book is a great read , read it many times. I went ahead and tried the stranded work - (not one thing I am good at) - it was too small with fingering yarn . So this morning , found some naturespun sport in my stash along with size 3 needles and perfect.
Cuff took about an hour and then the rest flew by - - really need to keep tension loose with the stranded work - but I am in love!

Here is the piece sent to me. This is very sweet and cute. The colors are soft and the button is forever adorable! This came with a few other surprises. Self sticky notes, peonies hand wash and lotion - which I used right away and smells totally awesome., mailing envelopes - will put to great use - ,

Squares From Mercy!

Mercy, I recieved your squares and the other gifts today :) I, like you, had a hard time not throwing in extras :) lol... I LOVE the squares, what cute little birdies :) and yes, they are summery! I Love the chart as well! Shepherds Bush- Busy! You spoiled me! The Silkweavers fabric is just wonderful! I think you picked just the right things to suit me! Peace, something so beautiful, and yet seemingly so hard to find, when one is not so small. I hope you all find some peace today :) I will go to see Dante this afternoon. Working on homework, and finishing 2 projects which I will mail out tomorrow. Peace.

King Tut

I wanted to give all you ladies a heads up. I found this a couple of days ago. It's a "superchart" of Tutankhamun. I was able to find one on ebay and snatch it up. The picture of the stitched piece is absolutely gorgeous!

My Son is Home

Just thought I'ld let you all know. Now I don't have as good of a reason for being spacy. He finished his second part of his tour of Irac and is stationed in FT. Stewart GA.

Grandson

Hi everyone! I am sorry it has taken so long to write. I just found out a few days ago that I am a grandma! The kids were abit anxious to tell, but even so, I have a wonderful blessing! Wow am I slow?

Ok so I just figured out how to post a new posting. Um, yea. Any way I remember we were having a discusion on what we use while cross stitching. Some used hoops, scroll and free style. Well, I thought I would like to try the scroll so I purchased one. Then befor I even used it I was reading Teresa Wentzler's blog and she mentioned the E-Z Stitch No Basting System from American Dream Products. I went to buy that, although I didn't know it came in 2 packages one for the bar and one for the fabric. I picked up the package for the bar. Set it up even though the instructions were not in the package and discovered the problem. I cheated and fixed it with a purchase of velco from CVS because it was a shorter drive than running to the craft store. Any way, I like the way it works. So my question is has anyone used E-Z Stitch Lap Stand ?

So I thought it might be interesting to see some of Snohomish! Snohomish is an antique town with many older homes and antique shops... really a beautiful place if you want to see some interesting homes... I took some pics yesterday, and thought I would share!

So I have a new camera, which I love... and I have a finish, but I have to figure out my camera... :) I took a lot of pics and downloaded them, But the finish... has disappeared, SOON I will post the finish though... Happy Summer Laura

Stitching Lottery signups

Signups for the Stitching Lottery end tonight at midnight :) At the time we have 6 members! The stitched pieces should be finished by July 4th! Let me know if you finish early, as we may send early if everyone finishes quickly. Remember your piece should be finished after it is stitched. Examples of finishing would be a pillow, pinkeep, biscornu, framed, purse, scissor keeper... etc. The possibilities are endless. We are such a creative group, that the end results will be exciting to see. Take a picture of your finished piece for future use, but do not post yet, as it is a surprise project! Todays finish, and Mothers Day

Happy Mother`s Day, to anyone who is a mom!! I wanted to share with you the mini pillow I made for my mom The chart is a Bent Creek design - Red Winged Blackbird; I changed the colors to: 3371 - brown bird :) and dmc 4020,4050,4060,4080,4120 vareigateds :) for the colors, and ecru for the bird`s eye Hope you enjoy, now I will stuff the pillow and stitch the bottom shut for mom! Laura note the fabric in the background is the fabric behind the brown bird and the back of the pillow!

Staci, Just wanted to say thank you! You have enabled me to get halfway through my mice and cheese biscornu! Pixie`s gift!

First, I would like to brag a minute about a gift that I received earlier in the week! I finally got it 2 days ago, and then my computer was giving me grief... BUT I recieved a bookmark with some beads on it from Pixie! What a wonderful gift. I had seen them on her creative blog, and she was so nice to send one my way! Quiet

It has been so quiet lately on my blog ... I hope everyone is doing good... enjoying summer, and getting some stitching time in. Today is a cool day ... and cloudy... I have my hot tea simmering as I post (cinnamon hot tea!) (love it) and my candles burning ... and my small stitching and sewing projects awaiting me as soon as I finish my tea! A perfect day when it is too cloudy for the beach - as far as I can tell! I also may stitch up a biscornu freebie with mice and cheese... When I finish that I will send the link with it!! A wonderful way to end the weekend!

I had a wonderful weekend! Got to do things that I love to do... and to top it off - today I recieved my squares from Heidi in Germany!!! What a treat! The squares are beautiful, and I have the perfect fabric to complement them! I cannot wait to finish them off! The fact that they are from Germany gives me a nice feeling as well! Thank you Heidi!
